ENGINE LIFE TIME SAVER!
Trends in engine designThe continued raising of emission and fuel economy standards has resulted in concentrated activity by the engine manufacturers to achieve new targets. Engines now burn less oil, power output and fuel efficiency have improved and engine durability has increased. An effective oil cleaning system will increase engine durability, makes extended oil change / drain intervals possible and assists the engine to sustain emission standards throughout its working life.
Theory of by-pass filtration

Full flow filters are designed to process all of the oil used to lubricate the moving parts of an engine. However, these high flow requirements restrict their ability to remove fine particles without the filter becoming either too large or causing an excessive restriction to oil flow. In order to offer improved oil filtration it is possible to install a secondary or by-pass filter within most lubrication systems. These by-pass filters are fitted independent of the full flow system and process only a small proportion of the oil flow which is returned directly to the oil sump. By-pass centrifuges have the advantage that they maintain their flow and efficiency throughout the entire oil change interval.
The centrifugal oil cleaner
The Glacier type centrifuge consists of a body with outer casing cover and a central spindle around which a rotor spins at high speed. Oil at pump pressure enters the centrifuge and continues to the cleaning chamber of the rotor via the centre spindle. Having passed through the cleaning chamber, the oil exits at the base of the rotor. The oil exiting from the nozzles causes the rotor to spin at high speed.
The resultant centrifugal force causes particles of contaminant to migrate outwards where they form a dense "cake" on the inner wall of the rotor. A paper insert protects the inner wall from being contaminated and can be quick and easily replaced by a new paper insert (you don’t need a spatula for cleaning the inside). This results in low maintenance labour costs and improves the life of the oil filter. Retrofit
Maprom specialises in the retrofit of centrifuges to existing engines. Our oil cleaning solutions are designed to operate at higher oil pressures and thus removing larger quantities of non combustible material out of the lube oil. Cleaner oil reduces engine component wear and helps prevent full flow filters from blocking. It is not uncommon for our systems to operate for longer running hours with the same oil when engines are changed from MFO to HFO.
