ROCK-SOLID GUARANTEE
The last decades we have seen major changes concerning shaft liners for propeller shafts at bearing position. Material with added high-grade alloy elements, such as Nickel, Chromium and Boron have replaced conventional materials such as bronze and stainless steel. Lack of wear-resistance in shaft equipment will result in early replacement of the shaft liner/bearing with extra costs for repairs. A high-grade alloy will give the shaft liner a superior level of quality, thus considerably prolonging the service life of the shaft equipment.
Maprom Scope of Supply includes Nickel-Chromium-Boron (NCB) shaft sleeves. The NCB layer is intermolecular bonded at high temperature on a base material. Due to the special, in house developed application method, the NCB coating layer will not come loose of its base material. Nickel-Chromium-Boron with sophisticated additions of copper, molybdenum, carbon and iron makes a superior shaft liner.
The tough and wear resistant coating results in a perfect bearing counter running surface with hardness of 58-62 HRc, an enormous improvement compared to conventional materials. As the liner will stay in better shape the bearing surface also benefits.
It is not unusual for NCB shaft sleeves to last four or five times longer than conventional shaft liners made of bronze or stainless steel. Maprom Engineering will guarantee at least a double service-life.
In addition to shaft liner applications for fresh water, Maprom Engineering also has a range of NCB shaft sleeves, which are resistant to seawater. The NCB shaft liners can be delivered Finish Bored (FB) for direct shrink-fitting or Rough Bored (RB) enabling the customer to machine the inside diameter to size.
